ExpressSend ® International Remittance Transfers Questions

The Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service is a person-to-person remittance (money transfer) service that offers you more options to send money home to your family or friends in Mexico, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, India, Philippines, and Vietnam. It’s economical, convenient, and dependable.

You can send money from an eligible Wells Fargo checking or savings account. You can also choose how your beneficiary receives the money — either to for cash pick-up or credit into their account at the receiving bank.

There are two simple solutions for sending money home:

1. Transfer money from your eligible Wells Fargo checking or savings account to your beneficiary for cash pick-up.
2. Transfer money from your eligible Wells Fargo checking or savings account to your beneficiary’s account.

All the options may not be available at all Remittance Network Members or locations. Please refer to country-specific pages for more information.

To be able to use the Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service, you will need to enroll in a Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service Agreement.

What is the Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service?

The Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service allows you to send money to family and friends abroad. This service is easy to add to your eligible Wells Fargo consumer checking or savings account to transfer money to your beneficiary by establishing a service agreement. You must be a sole owner, a primary or secondary joint owner or have power of attorney on the funding account to use ExpressSend. Customers who have not reached the age of majority in their state of residence are not allowed to enroll in the Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service. Many countries have restrictions that limit the ability of a minor to be the Beneficiary of a remittance transaction. The Sender must ensure that their beneficiary is eligible to receive the funds sent to the designated Remittance Network Member.

• Cash Pick-up. Allows you to send money from an eligible Wells Fargo consumer checking or savings account to a RNM location in Latin America or Asia where your beneficiary picks up cash.
• Credit to Account. Allows you to send money from an eligible Wells Fargo consumer checking or savings account to your beneficiary’s checking or savings account at a Remittance Network Member (RNM) in Latin America or Asia.

How do I enroll in the Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service?

It’s easy to get started.

Step 1 – Contact us. Talk to your Wells Fargo banker today, to learn about the options available, and select the option that best fits your needs.

Step 2 – Provide your beneficiary's information. Tell us who should receive the money (beneficiary) and how you want your beneficiary to receive the money (cash pick-up or credit to your beneficiary’s account ). Provide us with the necessary beneficiary information once; no additional forms are needed when you want to send money to the same beneficiary again.

• When completing the ExpressSend Service Agreement, you must provide:
  • The name, address, and telephone number of your beneficiary.
  • Your beneficiary’s telephone number must either be a number in the country to which your remittance will be sent or a U.S. telephone number. You must also indicate whether the number is a mobile line or landline.
  • The Remittance Network Member(s) to which your funds should be sent.
  • Your beneficiary’s full physical address, which must be located in the country to which your remittance is being sent. Post office box addresses are not allowed.

  Many countries have restrictions that limit the ability of a minor to be the Beneficiary of a remittance transaction. The Sender must ensure that their beneficiary is eligible to receive the funds sent to the designated RNM.

  We will be unable to establish your Service Agreement if you do not provide this information.

  • Finally, tell us how you want your beneficiary to receive the money (cash pick-up or credit to your beneficiary's account ). If you send money to your beneficiary’s account, you will need to provide your beneficiary’s qualifying deposit account number at the beneficiary’s bank.
  • For cash pick-up remittances, the beneficiary name you provide must match exactly the name appearing on the government issued identification document(s) the beneficiary will present when collecting the funds. Some RNMs may require your Beneficiary to submit to a fingerprint scan or photograph to collect funds.
    

  Step 3 – Send your first transfer. We’ll establish the transfer details to ensure your money is sent quickly and safely. The first remittance you send under each service agreement must be completed in person at a Wells Fargo branch.

  If you choose the option to allow your beneficiary to pick up cash , you can send your money immediately.

  • If you choose the option to send money to your beneficiary’s bank account , we will complete a one time set–up of the transfer details. You should allow up to five (5) Business Days for the Beneficiary account details to be established before you make a Remittance to be credited to an account.

  Once the ExpressSend transaction is completed, the sender will be informed of the date by which the funds will be available to the beneficiary.

  Will my beneficiary need to go to a particular payout location to retrieve the money?

  Yes, Wells Fargo works with a group of Remittance Networks Members (RNM) in select countries that Wells Fargo has established Remittance Agreement relationships with.

  In what currency will my beneficiary be able to collect the money?

  Transfers to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, India, and Philippines are made in the currency of the receiving country. Transfers to Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Peru, and Vietnam are made in U.S. dollars.

  If you choose to send money to your beneficiary’s bank account in one of the countries where remittances are denominated in the foreign currency, your beneficiary’s bank account must be denominated in the currency of the receiving country. If you chose to send money to your beneficiary’s bank account in one of the countries where remittances are denominated in U.S. dollars, your beneficiary’s bank account must be denominated in U.S. dollars. Funds transferred to the foreign Remittance Network Member are not FDIC-insured.

  Can I have more than one beneficiary?

  Yes, but you may only have one beneficiary per Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service Agreement. For each additional beneficiary you will need to open a separate Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service Agreement. You may not name the same beneficiary on more than one Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service Agreement.

  There is a limit of four open Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service Agreements per customer from your eligible Wells Fargo consumer checking or savings account.

  Many countries have restrictions that limit the ability of a minor to be the Beneficiary of a remittance transaction. The Sender must ensure that their beneficiary is eligible to receive the funds sent to the designated RNM.

  Customers cannot set up recurring, scheduled remittance transfers; the customer must always initiate each transfer.

  How much money can I send to my beneficiary?

  The aggregate daily amount which you may transfer to a beneficiary using a Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service Agreement varies by country and Remittance Network Member. The minimum you can send is $25. There are also limits on the total amount as well as the number of transfers you may send over various timeframes.

  How much does the service cost?

  There are no ExpressSend Service enrollment fees, no monthly or annual ExpressSend maintenance fees, and no ExpressSend Service fees for your beneficiary.

  For one low transaction fee, send up to a country’s aggregate daily transfer amount with your Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service to your beneficiary. Please refer to country-specific pages for more information on transaction limits and fees, which vary by country.

  The transaction fee will be charged for each transfer.

  How do I send money internationally using my ExpressSend service agreement?

  The first remittance sent under each service agreement must be completed in person at a Wells Fargo branch. Customers with an existing checking or savings account may be able to complete their first remittance by calling the Wells Fargo Phone Bank, subject to caller authentication requirements and additional fraud prevention controls. Additional remittances may be completed at a Wells Fargo branch, by calling the Wells Fargo Phone Bank, or through Wells Fargo Online ® at wellsfargo.com. ExpressSend is not available on the Wells Fargo Mobile ® app. Customers must use a desktop or laptop to conduct online ExpressSend transfers.

  Customers cannot set up recurring, scheduled remittance transfers; the customer must always initiate each transfer.

  Can I use ExpressSend for business-related payments?

  The Wells Fargo ExpressSend Service is only for person-to-person remittances and not for commercial or business-related payments. For business-related payments, Wells Fargo offers an array of other services that may meet your business needs. Please consult with your personal banker.

  Can I cancel an ExpressSend transaction?

  You have the right to cancel an ExpressSend remittance transfer within 30 minutes of completing it. We will refund all funds paid to us, including all fees and taxes, unless the remittance has already been picked up by your beneficiary or deposited to their account . The quickest and most efficient way to request a cancellation is by calling ExpressSend Customer Service at 1-800-556-0605 , or logging on to your secure Wells Fargo Online secure session at www.wellsfargo.com. After you sign on, proceed to the ”Transfer and Pay” option and select "Send to Another Country". Then, select the “History” link for the Service Agreement used to make the transfer and select the Remittance you wish to cancel.

  If you want to amend or cancel a Remittance more than 30 minutes after you send it, we will try to amend or cancel it for you. We are not responsible if we are unable to cancel or amend your Remittance if you notify us after 30 minutes. If we are able to cancel your Remittance, we will refund to your Account all funds you paid to us, including all fees and taxes.

  When you contact us, you must provide enough information so we can identify the remittance you wish to cancel. Generally, we need to know the amount of the transfer, where the funds were sent, and other information to identify and authenticate you. We will refund your money within three business days of your request to cancel a transfer, unless the remittance has already been picked up or deposited into a beneficiary’s account . We will provide your refund by crediting your checking or savings account used to fund the ExpressSend remittance transfer.

  How can I update or close my ExpressSend service agreement?

  Call our ExpressSend customer service team at 1-800-556-0605 if you need to update service agreement details or if you want to close your agreement.

  What happens if I stop using my ExpressSend service agreement?

  If you don't use the Service Agreement for 24 months (730 calendar days), the Service will automatically terminate.
